Description:

Built in 1916 by Congressman Sam Rayburn, the house is now a museum dedicated to the memory of its builder and his family. The house, along with its original smokehouse, barn and garage, are located in west Bonham, 25 miles east of Sherman. All the furnishings and items in the 12-room house are original pieces and visitors can see such items as Rayburn's address book, full of names of Supreme Court justices and congressmen, and his 1947 Cadillac, a gift from 142 congressmen after the end of his first term as Speaker of the House.
